Downloading and using electronic books (eBooks)
This page contains help on downloading, opening, viewing and optionally printing eBooks. This
page may be useful to you once you have received notification (eg via email) that your
electronic books, or eBooks, are ready for download. If you have not yet received notification,
see 'after your order' in the store help page for more
information.
This page is organized as follows:
Notes: This page assumes you already have Adobe Acrobat Reader software (or
equivalents) installed and working on your computer. See the formats help
page for more information on minimum requirements, where to get the free Adobe Acrobat
Reader software from, and other topics.
What does the email look like that will tell me my order is ready for download?
The email will be from "Memletics.com" with a subject similar to:
Memletics.com Store Order #20xxx email 3 of 3 - order
available/shipped
This indicates your downloads are ready.
How else can I check my downloads are ready?
You can also check by viewing your order on the site. Go to the store ,
click "Customer Menu" on the home page or on the footer, enter your login details, and then
click the "View and track your orders" option.
Select your order, and on the order details page check the "Order Status." If the order
status is "Shipped," your downloads should be ready. If it's any other status, it indicates your
order is not ready yet.
Where do I go to download my eBooks?
There is only one location from where you can download eBooks associated with your order.
That location is the "Download Manager" page.
How do I get to the Download Manager page?
There are two ways:
- By clicking on the link provided in the notification email (email 3 of 3). The link
looks like this:
If your order contained downloadable goods, you can
access them via the Download Manager at: http://hmwin2ksvr:8030/store....
If the link is not active (eg it's not underlined), try copying and pasting it to
your browser URL bar. You must copy and paste the entire link, including the numbers at the
end. You can also use the second method below if this doesn't work.
- By clicking on the link on the order details page. If the email URL doesn't work,
you can use this method. Go to the store,
click "Customer Menu" on the home page or on the footer, enter your login details, and then
click the "View and track your orders" option. Select the relevant order from the list, and
then click the "Download Electronic Products" link (about half way down).
I'm at the Download Manager page, and it contains the links to my products. What do I do
next?
Simply click on each link provided. Your browser should ask you whether you would like to
Open or Save the file. It's very important that you click "Save," because the file will be
removed from our server a few days after you've downloaded the order.
When you click save, the browser will next prompt you for a location on your PC to save the
file. Choose an appropriate folder or directory, then click "Save" or "OK." Be sure to remember
where you've put the file. For help on what to do next, page down to "Opening eBooks."
If you don't know what a folder or directory is, you may want to ask someone, check your
operating system documentation, or search the web for free tutorials on basic Windows or
Macintosh usage.
Note: Some browsers may ask whether you want to open the file once you've finished the
download. It's OK to open the file from here, but also read the notes below under "Opening
eBooks" so you can open it again later.
When I get to the Download Manager, I get a message saying "there are no products currently
available for download from this order." What does this mean?
There could be a few reasons.
- You didn't choose any downloadable products as part of this order. If you believe
you have, check the order details screen to confirm. If there are any products there that say
"PDF format," you have downloadable products. If they haven't appeared, please contact us. If
you've accidentally selected a printed (physical) product, it may be too late because the
order has probably shipped.
- The file/s have not been generated yet. This usually takes up to 24 hours after
your order, however it may take up to two business days. Try again later.
- The file/s have been removed from the server. This is usually because it's been
more than 10 days since your order. If you need the files regenerated, please contact us.
If you are still having difficulties, please contact us.
I've downloaded the Memletics Manual from another site, or received it from another
individual or organization. Is this OK?
If it contains the full chapters 2 to 6, it's likely to be an illegal copy. Please see
Product Protection help page. Note we offer incentives to individuals
who report unauthorized copying of Memletics products.
How do I open an eBook?
Once you've saved an eBook to your computer, there are two basic ways to open it. These are:
- If you're comfortable working with files and folders, open the folder you saved the file
to when you downloaded it from our website. The file you downloaded should appear with an
Adobe PDF icon. Click or double-click the file to open it.
- Otherwise, start the Adobe Acrobat Reader software (see the
Adobe Reader support page »
if you are not sure how to do this for your operating system). Once it starts, select File >
Open, then browse to the folder or directory where you saved the file you downloaded from our
site. Click 'Open'
The file should now open. If it's a personalized product, it may prompt you for a password -
see the next question. If you get a system error, or the reader doesn't start, see further
below?
Why is Adobe Acrobat Reader prompting me for a password?
If you've purchased a "Single User" licensed product, your file is protected with a password.
The password is the either your store password or the credit card number you used when you purchased the product. Check the download manager page for details of which one it is for your order number.
There should be no spaces, dashes or other characters in the credit card number.
For more information on why we need to do this please see the Product
Protection help page.
My password doesn't work - what can I do?
- Try retyping it. The Adobe software does not lock you out after a certain number of
tries.
- Check you are using the same credit card number you used during your purchase. If you have
a few credit cards, did you use another one?
- Check you are not using any spaces or other characters in the password.
If none of these work, please contact us.
I'm still having problems opening my files, what can I do?
Firstly, check the questions in the product formats help file, under the
eBooks - technical questions. If you are certain you
can access other PDF files, but cannot open the products you've ordered, please contact us with
details of your problem, including:
- Your order number
- The names and versions of Adobe software you are using
- The operating system you are using
- A description of the problem or issue you are having.
How do I use the Adobe Acrobat Reader software?
See the help in the program (under the Help menu), or go to
Adobe Acrobat Reader support page
». From there you can also download a user guide.
What are the gray boxes on every 10th page or so?
These shaded boxes contain information from your order, such as your name, phone number and
possibly credit card number. This is a product protection system. For more information see the
Product Protection help page.
How do I print my eBook?
If you have a printable product, select File->Print from the menu in the Adobe Acrobat Reader
software.
If your printer is capable of Duplex printing (printing on both sides), we suggest you use
that feature. This is often enabled by clicking the "Properties" button next to the printer name
in the Print Dialog box. Look for "Print on both sides" or a similar option. Check your printer
documentation for more information on enabling this feature.
What if the Print option is grayed out or otherwise disabled?
Usually this is because you purchased a nonprintable product. There is no way to print a
nonprintable eBook. You will need to contact us about ordering an upgrade if you need to print
the eBook.
What if I have problems printing the eBook?

Can I print eBooks on A4 sized paper, even though the eBook is on Letter sized paper?
Yes, most systems should recognize the differences and print accordingly. Note that on A4
paper the page contents may look shorter and slightly wider than normal, however this normal and
should not prevent you from reading the book.
Please contact us if you have further questions on this topic.
