Product Protection on Memletics.com
We aim to provide up-to-date information as quickly as possible, to anyone in the world. To
achieve this, we use electronic book formats. This also means we have to take additional steps
to make sure our products are not widely copied and distributed. This page provides more
information on how we protect products.
The topics on this page include:
- Product Protection methods
- Checking whether your product is valid
- Reporting unauthorized copying, and incentives
How does Memletics.com protect its electronic books, or eBooks?
There are several parts to our product protection strategy:
- The full versions of eBooks can only be downloaded from Memletics.com with a valid order.
- eBook versions sold through the site are licensed to an individual only.
- eBooks are sold only after the individual accepts the Memletics Terms of Use agreement.
- eBooks are protected with a password, usually the store password of the individual
ordering the eBook.
- eBooks are inscribed with a unique serial number that's linked to order details.
No other personal information is included.
- eBooks are encrypted with 128 bit encryption, using a unique key for each copy
- Incentives are offered to individuals who first report an incidence of a violation of a
Memletics license.
Further product protection features may be employed, to the full extent permitted by our
privacy policy.
How does Memletics.com protect it's printed books?
- At present, the full versions of printed books can only be purchased from Memletics.com
with a valid order.
- Printed books are licensed to an individual only.
- Books are sold only after the individual accepts the Memletics Terms of Use agreement.
- A serial number is "inscribed" onto the book title page, and a product security feature is
included on every tenth page or so.
- Incentives are offered to individuals who first report an incidence of a violation of a
Memletics license.
Further product protection features may be employed, to the full extent permitted by our
privacy policy.
How do I know if the product I've received is valid?
If you've followed the order process through the Memletics.com website, or have purchased
from Amazon.com, you should have a
valid license, subject to the Memletics Terms of Use agreement.
We are beginning to allow some organizations to license and use Memletics materials. These
are listed at the bottom of this page.
If you've received a copy from any other source, it's likely you've received an illegal copy.
In addition, all licensed products have at least have a unique number or identifier within
the first few pages, regardless of the source. Please contact us if you'd like to check the
validity of the identifier. If it's missing, it's likely to be an illegal copy.
What happens if I've paid for an illegal copy?
Unfortunately we cannot refund money you've paid to someone else for an illegal copy. You
should destroy the copy you have, as it's a stolen good.
We may be able to provide a discount on the purchase of a valid copy if you report enough
information to us. See the next section, "reporting unauthorized copying."
How do I report possible unauthorized copying or licensing violation?
Please report any unauthorized copying of licensed products to us via the
contact page. Include the following information, where
available or known:
- Names of individual/s, site/s or organization/s involved.
- Date, time and location/s of violation/incident. Please include full site URL and/or
address/contact information.
- Nature of incident, including estimated number of unauthorized copies.
- How you've personally been affected by the violation (eg you've paid for a copy)
What incentives do you have for reporting violations?
Depending on the nature of the violation, we may provide incentives to those who first
report an individual, site or organization. These may include:
- A discount, up to the full purchase price, of a valid Memletics product.
- Up to 10% of any net proceeds resulting from legal action against the parties involved.
- Other incentives as we see appropriate.
These incentives are at the discretion of Memletics.com
